At Sunrise, we don't leave you
in the dark when it comes to your rights as a consumer.
Do not ever sign a
blank wrecker ticket at an accident site. Signing a blank
ticket is like signing a blank check.
When you're told to get three estimates
by an insurance company, tell them that in the state of Texas
you only need to get one...or have them pay for your valuable
time and gasoline while you run around town.
If after hours, have the vehicle
towed to your home. This will save on ungodly storage charges
that occur when a vehicle is brought to a storage facility.
If you don't already have UNINSURED
MOTORIST COVERAGE...get it! WIth so many people driving without
insurance and all the parking lots hit-and-run accidents that
occur in Houston, it makes a lot of sense to make sure your
insurance agent included it on your auto policy.
Pay the extra $20-25 for rental car
coverage. It will make your life a whole lot easier when you
do have an accident...and need a car to drive.
The lowest estimate usually doesn't
equate to the best quality job. The common law of business
balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot--it cannot
be done. If you deal with the lowest estimate, it is well worth
it to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that,
you will have enough to pay for something better!
Try to deal with shops that are Gold
I-CAR Certified. This ensures that the repair facility you're
dealing with has all of its technicians trained to do the job
right. P.S. Sunrise Paint and Body was one of the first Houston
area shops to gain this designation back in 1993!
Beware of shops that will 'save your
deductible'. If they save your deductible, you can count on
parts not being replaced, inferior work or short-cut paint
methods that will diminish the value of your car. If you don't
care, then go right ahead.
If an insurance company wants you
to go to a shop of their choice, REMEMBER...you have a right
to bring your car to the shop of YOUR choice. It is not always
in your best interest to go where they want you to take it.
Do you really want to take your Acura to a Ford dealership
or your Chevrolet truck to a Chrysler dealer? Go to where the
people know your vehicle.
In most cases, you can expect an
insurance estimate to be lower than what your final bill will
be. It is up to the repair facility to work out any discrepancies
with the insurance company. This is called 'creating a supplement'.
You should not have to pay any extra monies to get your car
done RIGHT!
